Element 1 Worklplan 2023 explained!

On March 15, 2023, the ESA NAVISP team presented the 2023 workplan of the activities to be implemented under NAVISP Element 1. During this information session the NAVISP program and its goals were presented, focusing on Element 1, which is dedicated to technological innovations to influence research and development in Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT), with the aim of studying new technologies, developing them, and testing the concept of new products, in many cases implementing ideas and prototypes that will be verified in real conditions.

The work plan was fully approved in February 2023, and during the webinar the audience had the chance to preview the expected content and outcomes of the activities, as well as the unique opportunity to discuss the ideas and motivations with the engineers defining the activities at ESA. About 90 people from industry and research institutes followed the webinar and participated in the subsequent interactive Q&A session.

Overall, the activities will help drive innovation in the PNT domain and prepare the building blocks for new products and services to be pursued in the other NAVISP element, the Element 2.
