SWHARD S.R.L.

SWHARD is a SME (according to EU definition) based in Italy. Established in 2012 as an innovative startup, it is specialized in innovative industrial applications and highly technological R&D. The research team can offer a wide set of competencies, spacing from robotics, mechatronics, to applied physics, Monte Carlo simulations, and data analysis. SWHARD can provide advanced knowledge in hardware and software development and engineering, handling all the necessary steps from the initial research to the final industrial-grade product. The SWHARD team can provide highly-tailored and highly-reliable hardware for advanced research purposes, at the edge of the technological frontier.  

SWHARD extends its software expertise from low-power firmware for IoT devices, to the development of Linux drivers and kernels for real-time embedded systems, to Object Oriented programming, databases and GUIs on Windows platforms. It also offers expertise in data processing, processing and analysis in science and industry. Similarly, for hardware, SWHARD handles all phases of product development: design, component selection, layout and mechanics. In addition to this, there is expertise in the post-design phase, i.e. testing and system integration, as well as prototyping and support for industrial production.  

SWHARD is actually placed within the Genoa Business Innovation Center, a SME incubator focused on innovation, industry 4.0, and high-tech applications. SWHARD is also part of the SIIT-PMI Consortium (Distretto Tecnologico Ligure sui Sistemi Intelligenti Integrati), with a research laboratory within the SIIT facility, and has a joint laboratory with the University of Genoa mechanical department, focused on mechatronic and robotics applications.
