Bonn, June 11, 2025 – The NAVISP Information Day, hosted at the Space Innovation Hub in Bonn, marked a significant moment for the German Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) community. The event was organised in close cooperation with the German Space Agency (DLR), the Federal Ministry of Transport, and ESA’s NAVISP programme. It brought together over 60 participants representing 48 different organisations from industry, academia, and government.
A representative from the Ministry of Transport opened the event by highlighting Germany’s expanding PNT ecosystem, reaffirming the country's commitment to developing innovative and resilient PNT technologies essential for future products and services. After that, DLR outlined the role of NAVISP and the broader scope of navigation activities within Germany and across Europe. This was complemented by a presentation from the ESA NAVISP Executive highlighting the positive benefits that the programme has had in the German PNT ecosystem. DLR’s research division then showcased the outcomes of the MAPS project, offering insights into alternative PNT solutions for maritime transport and the role of international cooperation.
Leading companies such as Valeo, John Deere, and Hermes followed, sharing valuable insights into how advanced PNT technologies are already driving transformation across industrial operations and mobility systems, from automotive, agriculture, maritime transport to logistics. Their contributions were complemented by a dynamic group of presentations of innovative startups and SME’s. TruPhysics showcased innovations in robotics and navigation algorithms; Rail-Flow addressed the critical role of synchronized freight transport in rail logistics; and MUnique Technologies presented cutting-edge developments in optical time transfer for precision timing. Adding a strong academic dimension, the University of Hannover delivered a forward-looking presentation on quantum sensors, highlighting their potential to significantly enhance the accuracy and reliability of navigation and timing systems.
The broad participation of SMEs, research institutions, startups, and major industry players reflected the depth and vitality of Germany’s innovative PNT ecosystem. The event also underscored Germany’s role, in advancing resilient, future-ready PNT products and services across the country.
