On June 16th and 17th 2022, the NAVISP Industry Days gathered more than 100 participants of the European PNT ecosystem at the ERASMUS building in ESA’s Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC): An opportunity for the industry of different market sectors to share the results of their activities and to network in this very ample and dynamic sector.

From beamforming antennas to integrity services for high accuracy applications, from hybrid receivers to PNT innovative concepts, all the challenges to provide ubiquitous and continuous PNT are addressed by the 230 projects currently ongoing in NAVISP.

Keynote speakers gave their overview on the hot topics: Nikolaos Tsampieres, Senior Innovation manager of the ERTICO, the European public-private partnership organization focusing on Intelligent Transportation Systems, presented the importance of PNT data and the need for requirement standardization for Cooperative, Connected, and Automated Mobility (CCAM). Heidi Kuusniemi, Director and Professor at the Wasa University and R&D Professor at the Finnish Geospatial Research Institute of the National Land Survey of Finland, illustrated the effort of the Northern countries to develop alternative PNT solutions to face the fragilities of GNSS with complementary sensors and state-of-the-art data fusion techniques.
Baerbel Deisting, Director of Space and Space application at the bavAIRia e.v., focused on the need to further promote the outreach of the Programme in many different communities to channel their needs and federate their demands into NAVISP projects. Mauro Cardone, the Italian Delegate, stated that the development of PNT capabilities is a priority today for the European countries and that NAVISP offers ESA expertise and facilities to test novel PNT solutions and assets.

This was followed by different Industry presentations of the previous successful NAVISP projects. From SMEs to research institutions and large companies, many different Industry Actors presented their impressive project results and interim findings.

The relevance of the Programme was definitely recognised during the two-day event, together with some hints to improve its implementation. The NAVISP Team was delighted with the broad participation and the great interest of the participants. In the coming week, the presentations, as well as pictures, will be posted on the website. So stay tuned for further updates!
