The Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science, responsible for national funding of research, development and education, organized a national Call to solicit proposals to be submitted to  NAVISP Element 2 and 3.

The priority of this Call is on PNT solutions to improve the quality of life in the context of smart, connected, and efficient urban development in Denmark. For this purpose, with the support of NAVISP, a webinar was first organized by the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science to launch the call on May 2, 2022, explaining the objectives of the NAVISP programme and the various rules for participating in it.
In addition, the NAVISP team presented higher-level use cases with a PNT focus in the area of smart and sustainable cities, including PNT for predictive and proactive urban planning, PNT for urban energy management and smart grids, PNT for urban air mobility, PNT for more effective and sustainable urban waste management, PNT for smart urban mobility, and test beds for smart cities. Each of these overarching use cases covered a potential application area and served as a possible guide to the prospective areas of high demand for various technologies and services.

In June, companies had the opportunity to attend a pitch session where they could present their innovative PNT business ideas to the Danish Ministry and the NAVISP team.

The participants' pitches were creative, diverse and included a variety of innovative solutions: from improving infrastructure to promoting cycling in urban areas to supporting more sustainable transportation models.

The NAVISP team hopes to receive equally creative applications in the form of Outline Proposals by the official deadline of 1st September 2022, and looks forward to engaging further with the candidates and the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
