On the 2nd of September 2026 KENOTOM Private Company, with the partners National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and Geosystems Hellas S.A., presented the results of NAVISP-EL1-115, which addresses the increasing relevance of Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies as critical enablers for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving (AD).
The activity led to the recommendation for future projects through a structured process:
- Assess PNT relevance in AD/ADAS
- Map the development landscape
- Identify gaps and opportunity areas
Several evidence-based recommendations were formulated, which are useful for academia and industry working in the automotive field. Moreover, potential initiatives for NAVISP were identified, among which:
- 5 Element 1 projects, to build the core PNT enablers and validate feasibility at Lower TRL Level.
- 8 Element 2 focus areas, to advance promising solutions toward validation and productization.
- 2 Element 3 proposals, to enable deployment frameworks, pilot corridors and stakeholder coordination.
This was the second study completed on the subject. The results of the parallel contract NAVISP-EL1-115 bis were presented on 03/07/2026.
The activity was fully funded by ESA NAVISP Element 1, whose objective is to innovate PNT technologies, products and services. The slides can be accessed here.
