The BIO.PNT project investigates the integration of PNT technologies into biosensors as they could enable automation and high-throughput screening of many applications with high localization accuracy under field conditions worldwide. The goal of the study is to identify use cases for biosensors that can benefit from PNT integration and establish an engineering design how the integration could be achieved. The suitability of the biosensors will be evaluated based on a thorough market research, competitor analysis as well as the design requirements established on the basis of a state-of-the-art research on biosensors and PNT technologies. Hence, this activity unites knowledge from different scientific fields like bio-engineering, bio-technology, integrated circuits and PNT engineering in order to develop a design for a lightweight and innovative solution with a range of different future use cases and applications. The result of this activity will add value to the available PNT alternatives and technical solutions for current and future fields of application.
