The GNSS-R Technology for Water Leaks Detection project aims to engineer an instrument, which can be installed in any vehicle, capable of pre-localizing water losses using the technique of scatterometry. This technique involves driving a vehicle over the water pipe, identifying the sections with different moisture content than the average measurements. In this way, operators can avoid the laborious task of inspecting the water network meter by meter. They can go directly to the identified sections, resulting in significant savings in both time and water resources
