National Research and Development Institute for Marine Geology and Geoecology – GeoEcoMar, ROMANIA GeoEcoMar is a research-development institute established in 1993, under the co-ordination of the Romanian Ministry of Research and Innovation. GeoEcoMar represents the focal point of national excellence in research and consultancy on marine, coastal, river and lacustrine geology, geophysics and geoecology, as well as a reference centre for Marine and Earth Sciences. The main scientific activities and expert services of GeoEcoMar are focused on coastal researches and integrated management, geology, sedimentology, stratigraphy, paleontology, geochemistry, mineralogy, grain size analysis, biology, environmental quality investigations (hydro-chemistry, gas chromatography, eco-toxicology, greenhouse gas emissions), geophysics (seismo-acoustics, 2D marine seismics, magnetometry, gravimetry, electrometry), GIS and database, direct underwater observations (scuba diving, ROV), real time monitoring and study of marine geo-hazards (GEOPONTICA Permanent GNSS Stations Network, EUXINUS Automatic Marine Monitoring Systems Network), crustal movements studies (GNSS data processing and interpretation), geo-archaeology and geological mapping of the Romanian Black Sea continental shelf.
