The working group Navigation at the Institute of Geodesy of Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) has been a key player in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) research and development from the start, with a strong emphasis on integrated navigation. Estimation theory and its application to integrated positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) determination with sensors such as GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Beidou), Signals of Opportunity (Starlink, LeoPNT), Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR), terrestrial radio navigation (WiFI, UWB, BLE), cameras has been a research focus for many years. Moreover, the working group specializes in optimal filtering techniques (Kalman filter, particle filter, and Factor Graph Optimization), and is already actively developing factor-graph-based localization systems.
