Swedish National Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) Workshop
Start date: 06/11/2024 09:30
End date: 06/11/2024 15:30
PNT – Positioning, Navigation and Timing – is crucial in modern society. From mobile networks to financial transactions, autonomous vehicles to space operations, PNT is ubiquitous. However, the growing reliance on PNT has also exposed it to vulnerabilities. Jamming, spoofing, and infrastructure failures can disrupt PNT signals, leading to serious consequences for critical industries like transportation, finance, and emergency services. Equally critical are the technical challenges that must be addressed. These encompass the demand for enhanced accuracy, reliability, and availability across varied operational environments, as well as the seamless integration of PNT technologies with other interconnected systems.
Despite the challenges, there are significant opportunities for advancement in PNT systems. Emerging technologies, such as multi-constellation GNSS, sensor fusion, and machine learning, offer the potential to enhance the robustness and precision of PNT solutions. Additionally, the development of alternative PNT technologies, such as terrestrial-based systems and quantum technologies, could provide greater resilience and redundancy. These innovations not only promise to mitigate current vulnerabilities but also to expand the applicability of PNT systems into new domains, including autonomous vehicles, the internet of things (IoT), advanced robotics, and next-generation communication networks.
In this context, the Swedish National Space Agency (Rymdstyrelsen) and the European Space Agency (ESA) invite you to the National Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) Workshop in Stockholm. This event will explore the PNT landscape and opportunities within ESA's Navigation Innovation and Support Programme (NAVISP).
Date: November 06, 2024
Time: 09:30-15:30 CET – Opportunity for one-to-one discussions in the afternoon
Location: SNSA Office Stockholm, Hemvärnsgatan 9, 17154 Solna, Sweden
This workshop will focus on in-depth technical discussions and strategic collaboration. It will explore the details and execution of the NAVISP Programme alongside the strengths and priorities of the Swedish PNT ecosystem.
The event will further encourage cross-sector collaboration with industry leaders, showcase real-world NAVISP implementations, and offer personalized consultations with ESA and Swedish representatives to address individual pursuits within the PNT technology landscape.
