Final Presentation NAVISP EL2-131 “EGNSS MATE”
Start date: 06/05/2025 10:00
End date: 06/05/2025 11:30
The EGNSS MATE project focuses on the development and testing of new algorithms and satellite navigation services applied to the rail domain, to safely estimate the train’s position, velocity and time information. The long-term goal of this activity is to introduce new positioning technologies such as GNSS into the Control Command and Signalling System ERTMS. This positioning information enables moving block operations in the European Traffic Management System (ERTMS), allowing infrastructure managers such as SBB to increase capacity on existing lines and to reduce trackside assets and costs. Within this project map assisted sensor fusion algorithms have been developed, which use EGNSS and other sensor information to compute the safe location of a train. The algorithm development is accompanied by a measurement campaign using SBB vehicles through the Swiss normal gauge network, which has collected the necessary sensor data and has been used as a test bed for the online implementation of the algorithms.
The NAVISP EL2-131 project was co-funded by NAVISP Element 2, which aims to increase European Competitiveness.
