Final Presentation NAVISP EL3-033 "A Confidence Validation Framework for PNT"
Start date: 17/06/2026 10:30
End date: 17/06/2026 12:00
The project has developed and demonstrated a Confidence Validation Framework (CVF) for PNT that enables scenario-based, evidence-driven assessment of PNT solutions for connected and automated vehicle applications. Building on the project’s attribute framework, repeatable execution loop, and proof-of-methodology campaigns, the work established a structured validation approach in which realised PNT behaviour is assessed across multiple evidence dimensions rather than through a single performance indicator.
The project supports confidence-based assessment by combining evidence across Nominal Performance, Service Behaviour, Risk and Detection, and Behaviour under Stress, with trustworthiness treated as a derived assurance outcome conditioned by Operational Design Domain characteristics and levels of driving automation. Together, these outcomes deliver both a validated methodology and an initial evidence base, providing a basis for extending the CVF towards broader scenario coverage, richer receiver observability, stressed RF conditions, and future standards-facing confidence assessment aligned with ODD-based interpretation.
This activity was fully funded under NAVISP Element 3, which aims to advance European collaboration in Positioning, Navigation and Timing. Please check the agenda and register for the event to learn more about this project.
