The final presentation of ESA NAVISP-EL1-088, “Proof-of-concept of advanced navigation algorithms based on factor graph optimization (NAFGO),” will present the main results of the activity carried out by two Romanian companies: Three Tensors S.R.L. (prime contractor) and Romanian in Space S.R.L.
The project investigated advanced navigation algorithms based on Factor Graph Optimization (FGO) for standalone GNSS and GNSS/INS integration. The work covered both loosely and tightly coupled architectures, different receiver grades, and the use of GNSS and inertial measurements within a unified optimization framework.
The proposed algorithms were implemented and benchmarked in both real-time and batch processing modes. Their accuracy and computational cost were assessed through a 25-hour experimental campaign using a dedicated testbed.
The presentation will summarize the technical approach, achieved performance metrics, key lessons learned, outline publications and potential directions for further development.
This activity was fully funded under NAVISP Element 1, which aims to advance European innovation in Positioning, Navigation and Timing. Please check the agenda and register for the event to learn more about this project.
