Final Presentation NAVISP EL1-088 quater "PROOF-OF-CONCEPT OF ADVANCED NAVIGATION ALGORITHMS BASED ON FACTOR GRAPH OPTIMIZATION"

Start date: 05/10/2026 14:00

End date: 05/10/2026 15:30

The final presentation of the Proof-of-concept of Advanced Navigation Algorithms based on Factor Graph Optimisation (FASCINATE) activity, developed by GMV NSL Ltd in collaboration with Cranfield University under ESA’s NAVISP-EL1-088 project, will present the main achievements and conclusions of the activity.
FASCINATE focused on investigating the use of Factor Graph Optimisation (FGO) techniques for high-accuracy GNSS positioning in challenging environments, with particular emphasis on automotive navigation applications. The activity included the development and validation of an FGO-based navigation framework supporting code-based, PPP and RTK positioning modes, together with a dedicated multi-sensor testbed integrating GNSS receivers, IMU and odometer.
The presentation will provide an overview of the proposed navigation framework based on FGO, the software implementation, the real-driving validation campaign performed across four main cities in the UK and the main results obtained with respect to conventional approaches using Weighted Least Squares (WLS) and Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). It will also highlight the demonstrated advantages of FGO-based navigation in terms of positioning robustness and accuracy, together with the practical challenges associated with real-time implementation.
The audience will be introduced to the adopted technical approach, the validation methodology, the achieved navigation performances and the potential future evolution of FGO-based high-accuracy navigation solutions

This activity was fully funded under NAVISP Element 1, which aims to advance European innovation in Positioning, Navigation and Timing. Please check the agenda and register for the event to learn more about this project.
