Abstract: The final presentation of the “Proof-of-Concept of Advanced Navigation Algorithms Based on Factor Graph Optimization”, conducted by OHB Austria and Graz University of Technology within ESA’s NAVISP-EL1-088 project, will present the main developments and results of the activity. The project investigated Factor Graph Optimization (FGO) as an alternative to conventional Kalman-filter-based navigation, considering both standalone GNSS positioning and GNSS/IMU integration. The presentation will outline the design and implementation of the FGO-Nav framework and summarize its validation using dedicated field measurements. Particular emphasis will be placed on the comparative assessment of FGO-based smoothing and EKF-like filtering in terms of positioning accuracy, robustness and computational performance.

This activity was fully funded under NAVISP Element 1, which aims to advance European innovation in Positioning, Navigation and Timing. Please check the agenda and register for the event to learn more about this project.
