The report presenting the results of the test campaign conducted at the European Commission Joint Research Center assessing the performance and capabilities of various A-PNT platforms is now available (a report on Alternative PNT systems).
In the abstract, the JRC notes that "...today, many EU critical infrastructures, such as energy supply networks, transport infrastructures, telecommunications, and financial networks, have a strong reliance on Global Satellite Navigation Systems (GNSS). Since these infrastructures have become primary users of Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) services, the availability of backups or Alternative PNT (A-PNT) infrastructures should be considered as a priority to mitigate the impact of a potential disruption of GNSS."
NAVISP is fully aligned to this recommendation and promotes, on one side, the usage of GNSS products and services because of their outstanding performance, and, on the other side, supports the development of complementary and alternative PNT systems.
