NAVISP Workshop in Greece – a successful event

Athens, 11th of July 2025 - The NAVISP Greek Workshop, hosted at the Ministry of Digital Governance in Athens, under the historical hill hosting the Acropolis, marked a significant moment for the Greek Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) community. The event was organised in close cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Governance, the Hellenic Space Centre and ESA’s NAVISP programme. It brought together over 50 participants representing around 35 different organisations from industry, academia, and government.
The event, chaired by a representative of the Ministry of Digital Governance, acting as Delegate to the Program Board Navigation at ESA, was opened by the President of the Hellenic Space Centre, highlighting Greece’s expanding PNT ecosystem, and the importance of developing innovative and resilient technologies essential for PNT products and services.
ESA NAVISP Executive followed, highlighting the benefits that the programme has had in the Greek PNT ecosystem, and the potential opportunities of Greek Economic Operators especially in Maritime and Logistics, Smart mobility and autonomous systems, Internet of things, Drones for Environmental Monitoring, Renewable Energy grids monitoring.
Universities and companies who worked with NAVISP (National Technical University of Athens, Loctio, University of Patras and Kenotom) completed the presentation session, sharing valuable insights into innovative technologies such as Reflective Intelligent Surfaces, Machine Learning for Ambiguity Resolution, Cellular phone technologies for assured PNT and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
The broad participation of SMEs, Companies and Universities mirrored the high potential of Greek PNT ecosystem and grew the seeds for future collaborations between the stakeholders.
