The ERTICO ITS Congress, held in Lisbon from May 22nd to May 24th, brought together industry leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts to explore the latest advancements in transportation. With the theme "ITS THE Game Changer," the event highlighted the rapidly evolving future of mobility that is seamless, connected, and sustainable. Over 2,000 attendees, including the NAVISP team, gathered at the Congress Centre for three days of technical sessions, discussions, and exhibitions. The congress attracted a diverse range of participants, from startups to established OEMs, highlighting the global commitment to driving innovation in mobility.
The exhibition hall was filled with companies showcasing innovative products and services, transforming the venue into a thriving marketplace for the future of mobility. Visitors had the opportunity to explore booths featuring innovative solutions and technological advancements. Technical and special interest sessions focused on digitalization, sustainability, connected and cooperative mobility, and automated mobility. In addition, complementary to the advancements in road trends, the emergence of urban air mobility became a captivating topic, with drones playing a crucial role in transportation and logistics. Various use cases were presented, demonstrating how drones can be utilized for traffic monitoring, the delivery of medical supplies and organs, and the optimization of transport operations in ports. These applications offer the opportunity to significantly improve efficiency and highlight the transformative impact of technology on mobility in a profound manner.
NAVISP's presence at the ITS Congress in Lisbon showcased its crucial role in fostering innovation and bridging the gap between space technologies and the future of mobility. During a dedicated Special Interest session centred on the utilization of space technologies for Cooperative, Connected, and Automated Mobility (CCAM), ESA's NAVISP program joined forces with industry leaders including GMV, u-blox, RadioLabs, Armis Group ITS, and Satellite Applications Catapult. Together, they showcased the wide range of possibilities presented by communication and navigation satellites in enabling various driving functions including the development of advanced traffic management systems, driver assistance systems, and even the creation of complete CCAM vehicle prototypes.
Overall, the event served as a dynamic marketplace for groundbreaking technologies within the mobility sector. It placed a strong emphasis on road transport and also highlighted the latest advancements in Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and urban air mobility.
