The NAVISP Element 1 study NavHAPS, evaluated the use of High-Altitude Pseudo-Satellite (HAPS) for position, navigation and time (PNT) applications, as well as other GNSS and positioning related topics (e.g. GNSS interferences). It selected the 5G broadcast of PPP corrections as the most promising use case for quick time-to-market and highest commercial interest. The high-level architecture consists of a Ground Base Station, 1 HAPS and 5G Terminals in addition to an external sub-system in charge of calculating and stream to the system the PPP corrections. With HAPS platform and 5G devices maturity progressing fast, a future real life demonstration could be envisaged.
