On January 29, 2024, in Vienna, Austria, the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, AustriaTech, the FFG - Austrian Research Promotion Agency, and the NAVISP Programme of the European Space Agency hosted the event “Pole Position with Satellite Navigation: Leading with Precise Time and Exact Location.” Bringing together more than 60 participants from various sectors, the event underscored the critical role of Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies in addressing current and future challenges in mobility and precision timing.
Discussions focused on mobility challenges, highlighting the need for accurate and resilient PNT solutions in road traffic management, railway monitoring, and autonomous driving. Advances in timing and clock technologies were recognized as essential for ensuring infrastructure synchronization, minimizing delays, and enhancing safety. Speakers explored the vast potential of PNT in these areas, emphasizing its role in strengthening Austria’s expertise and leadership across key industries.
The workshop showcased Austria’s strong interest in PNT technologies, with contributions from SMEs, research institutions, and established enterprises.
