On Friday, December 10, 2021, Qascom, together with the Department of Information Engineering (DEI) and the Center of Studies and Space Activities G. Colombo (CISAS) presented the results of the NAVISP project “PNT Cyber Response Center” (PNT-CRC).

Qascom is a small/medium sized engineering company providing security solutions for satellite navigation and cybersecurity in space. Today, the company is one of the major European players in GNSS authentication and security. During the cooperation with NAVISP, the company recorded an annual growth rate of 40%, which shows the considerable success and is also an indicator of the growing interest in GNSS authentication services.

Within the scope of NAVISP Element 2, which aims to maintain and improve the capabilities and competitiveness of the participating States' industry in the global market for satellite navigation and, more broadly, PNT technologies and services, Qascom’s main objective was to develop a National PNT Cyber Response Center (CRC) capable to store, search and distribute all services for vulnerability, threats and mitigations associated to PNT services.

The PNT-CRC addresses both technology and application-specific threats as well as real-time location-based threats observed in a territory to provide contextual awareness and emergency alerts. For this purpose, the developed tool offers threat, vulnerability ad mitigation alerts, including geographical reports, as well as GNSS universal threat management. The product thus targets the GNSS security services sector and attempts to fill an existing gap in GNSS robustness products and services.

GNSS cybersecurity and intelligence is a growing market and Qascom, with the support of NAVISP, has succeeded in creating a product targeting a wide range of potential customers with increased security needs, such as chip manufacturers, but also customers active in application areas such as aviation, shipping and road transport.

The company successfully developed a business plan and is already in contact with several potential customers to grow the European market in the near future.
