SatUWB is a a GNSS enhanced Real Time Location System that uses UWB technology for accurate positioning. By including GNSS receivers in the anchors, SatUWB can provide absolute positioning information for a large number of mobile tags and eliminates the need for configuration and calibration of the anchor infrastructure. The anchors are deployable without prior knowledge of the area, thus enabling applications with ad-hoc or even mobile infrastructures, which is useful in case of temporary installations such as maintenance in hazardous areas or in emergency situations such as forest fires. The system allows the tags to embed sensor readings into the positioning messages, providing support for monitoring of application specific parameters. All the position and sensor information is available to external systems through a documented system API.
