100 - Category III GBAS with evolution towards DFMC
Status: On Going
Activity Code: NAVISP-EL2-100
Start date: 21/10/2021
Duration: 24 Months
The Indra Navia Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) is currently transmitting corrections and integrity data for GPS only as this has been standardized by ICAO.
ICAO is currently considering to amend the ICAO standards to include Galileo. The forecasted GAST F standard will be using multiple GNSS constellations and multiple frequencies (DFMC). The purpose of this project is to secure the finalization of the GAST D implementation, and to contribute to definition of GAST F, focusing on Galileo as the second constellation. Both GAST D and F enable landings in low visibility – Category III. Note that GAST D is proposed to be contained within GAST F as a fallback mode; and is therefore a precondition for implementation of GAST F.
