Albora's product is a cloud solution that provides low-power receivers with high-precision positioning from GNSS observables. This is a one-of-a-kind system where snapshots of GNSS observable samples are transmitted from a receiver to a cloud server for processing. The device only needs to provide certain GNSS observables and have connectivity to the internet.
Our technology enables the compression of Doppler, pseudo-range, and carrier-phase observations from a low-power GNSS receiver. Various compression methods are explored to provide different accuracy and bandwidth trade-offs. The compressed data is transmitted to a cloud-based infrastructure using a lightweight network protocol. Within the Albora cloud, the received data is decompressed and converted into GNSS measurements. These measurements are subsequently processed using advanced positioning algorithms tailored for this purpose. Depending on the compression method employed, additional GNSS correction data may be utilised to enhance the accuracy of the final position solution. Albora's solution encompasses a robust software-centric approach that can be easily deployed in the cloud (developed through NAVISP-EL2-096 and NAVISP-EL2-127 activities). It also incorporates innovative observable-based GNSS techniques that leverage the cloud's computational power, thereby reducing the load on the receiver.
