163 - Rail freight ride Surveillance (RaiSu)
Status: On Going
Activity Code: NAVISP-EL2-163
Start date: 01/08/2024
Duration: 19 Months
The management of rail logistics heavily relies on digital tools, where transport management systems (TMS) are pivotal. Despite the widespread use of TMS in road and ocean freight, rail freight lags by two decades. Addressing this discrepancy, Rail-Flow introduces a Rail TMS that integrates diverse data sources, including the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and collaborates with kasasi for GNSS data from various providers. The RaiSu project's objective is to amplify real-time visibility in rail freight by aggregating data from multiple sources, enhancing accuracy in tracking, timing, and dispatching decisions. With a European focus, the initiative advocates for stable real-time monitoring, facilitating just-in-time integration and bolstering confidence in rail performance to catalyze the modal shift.
