210 - IP Core Framework for GNSS receiver
Status: On Going
Activity Code: NAVISP-EL2-210
Start date: 02/12/2024
Duration: 12 Months
The goal of the project is to support highly demanded services, navigation and time distributions, including high accuracy PPP solutions, such as the one provide by Galileo HAS, together with a radio communication channel, by offering an integrated solution, which could fit multiple FPGA end user equipment on the land, airborne and maritime application. This solution delivers combined benefits from the PNT and radio communication into one more economic and less complex user equipment, enables sharing resources and processing power of the equipment. There are several reasons behind the proposed idea. The first and fundamental one is the market trends and needs. Increasing demand for accurate navigation and positioning from autonomous vehicles, drones, smart cities, telecommunications, finance & banking, critical infrastructure, security & safety and other sectors are the key drivers forcing and stimulating the technology development. Moreover, the rising number of LEO satellite constellations increases the availability of PNT services is going in parallel with new requirements related to solutions' cost-effectiveness, new safety standards and solution flexibility including readiness to support new services that have not yet been defined.
