090 - Robust Navigation for Autonomous Driving with Low-Cost/SWaP Arrays of Antennas
Status: On Going
Activity Code: NAVISP-EL1-090
Start date: 20/12/2024
Duration: 18 Months
The NAVISP-EL1-090 project aims to enhance positioning solutions for autonomous driving applications using low-cost antenna arrays, focusing on improving navigation robustness and accuracy in challenging urban environments through MIMO-GNSS processing. It involves designing, implementing, and validating technologies on a flexible breadboard platform using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware, considering future needs for computational efficiency and low Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) platforms. Key objectives include developing robust positioning solutions exploiting spatial distribution of signals via Direct Position Estimation (DPE), investigating mitigation of signal errors like multipath and interference, and assessing performance through field tests in urban scenarios. The project emphasizes two scientific domains: DPE as a disruptive one-step solution, and the exploitation of antenna array spatial distribution at the post-correlation level.
