089 - Modelling Quantum Sensors in a realistic navigation system context – MOQUA

Status: On Going

Activity Code: NAVISP-EL1-089

Start date: 29/09/2024

Duration: 18 Months

The main purpose of this activity is to evaluate – through simulations and modelling – how the use of quantum sensors can benefit PNT systems. To meet this overall purpose, the following study objectives can be derived:

  • Design and develop sensor models that can provide representative measurements for quantum sensors,
  • Integrate those sensor models within a simulation environment that will enable the configuration and execution of realistic test scenarios for defined PNT uses cases,
  • Develop (or modify) processing algorithms that can make use of the simulated quantum sensor measurements, along with traditional sensor measurements (such as GNSS and IMU),
  • Perform experimentation and trade-off to assess the PNT performance that can be achieved using quantum sensors in different situations, and to identify the key drivers and/or limiting factors for performance
