Spirent is aiming to develop and provide a test framework for PNT resiliency testing for users, operators, and providers of Critical National Infrastructure (CNI). The proposed framework will consist of the Spirent PNT Alliance, the Spirent Shopfront and the Resilient PNT Assessment Scheme, and will provide support to each of the ten points of the UK government’s Resilient PNT strategy [17], by providing the quantitative test evidence and data that is a vital underpinning component to the assessment of PNT resilience. Proving the value of test evidence is seen as being critical to establishing the Resilient PNT test market.  

The Framework is designed to both raise awareness and stimulate market demand for a Resilient PNT test and assessment by providing a pathway to assess, validate and rate the PNT equipment they intend to use. A catalogue of resilient PNT benchmark tests and scenarios can be chosen to provide a general view of the quality of the resilience of existing and improved equipment. This project brings collections of scenarios and benchmark tests together in one place so that they can be utilised in a common set of measurements. The test data will also be suitable to assess trends and to measure success of Resilient PNT projects and initiatives from an independent baseline of measures. This will then be finely tuned to meet domain-specific requirements in safety or liability critical areas such as CNI.
