043 - SecureUTM 2
Status: On Going
Activity Code: NAVISP-EL3-043
Start date: 15/04/2025
Duration: 10 Months
The primary goal of SecureUTM 2 Phase I is to establish the foundational elements required for SecureUTM 2’s implementation efforts:
- Conduct targeted risk assessments and gap analyses to refine the security certification framework, improving alignment with evolving critical UTM challenges.
- Investigate the feasibility of PNT data authentication solutions to address critical vulnerabilities in navigation and tracking.
- Define and outline security protocols and procedures, focusing on incident recognition and mitigation during cybersecurity crises.
- Develop a conceptual design for a Digital Twin, ensuring alignment with U-space and UTM requirements for testing and validation.
- Lay the groundwork for SecureUTM 2 Phase II through detailed planning, including requirement refinement, mitigation action prioritization, and initial validation plans. This phase will also involve identifying gaps in current security controls and proposing robust security mechanisms to enhance PNT data integrity with authentication measures. These efforts are crucial to support the envisaged implementation in Phase II, which is essential for achieving a secure, efficient, and resilient UTM ecosystem. Phase II will build upon the foundational work of Phase I, ensuring that Belgium’s U-space development goals are met and that the UTM ecosystem is fully prepared for operational deployment. The collaboration with the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority and national stakeholders like skeyes and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges will further reinforce the project's foundation and readiness for this critical next stage.
