033 - A Confidence Validation Framework for PNT

Status: On Going

Activity Code: NAVISP-EL3-033

Start date: 09/02/2024

Duration: 18 Months

Assured PNT refers to the technical process of ensuring that PNT data is reliable, accurate, resilient, and of high quality, while 'Trust' refers to our confidence in the system's performance. 'Trust' is therefore based on the combined level of assurance and confidence provided by the PNT data. Currently, PNT data within C-ITS is considered 'trusted,' but there is no clear definition or current means to indicate and ensure this 'Trust.' Therefore, a PNT confidence metric is required to holistically encompass these metrics in real-world systems of systems, including externally supplied augmentations and disparities between participants with no external oversight. WMG along with Vodafone and NPL aim to identify PNT confidence metrics and develop a scalable confidence validation methodology for PNT technology.
