The activity intends to design in detail and qualify a new Multi-Band Antenna for potential EGNOS hosted payloads and other SBAS applications.
Currently operating antennae designed by ADS-E for the GALILEO and INMARSAT-IV satellites serve as a base from which to develop this new antenna.
In spite of this, in its relentless pursue of excellence and technological innovation, ADS-E has decided not only to manufacture an antenna capable of handling both Navigation bands, but is also glad to introduce for the first time an all-new metallic technology that will allow these antennae to withstand the very high power requirements expected for EGNOS applications (up to 75W).
The present activity includes the detailed design of the antenna, including spacecraft interface requirements, bread boarding of the new full metallic patches and the manufacturing of a fully representative EQM Antenna.
