OHB Digital Solutions GmbH (OHB) and IZT - Innovationszentrum für Telekommunikationstechnik GmbH (IZT) are successfully cooperating in the field of GNSS signal generation. Currently IZT uses their S1000 / S1010 RF Signal Generator as a hardware platform and OHB provides it’s GNSS Constellation & Signal Generation Software – GIPSIE®. In the current set-up for simulating GNSS RF signals, GIPSIE® generates digital signal files according to the wishes of the customers, which are then stored in the S1000 / S1010. Once this is done, the stored files can be played back by the customer.
However, customer feedback directed us to a real-time / streaming requirement during creation of the simulation and playback. Real-time streaming means that the simulated signals are fed directly into the signal generator without upstream long-term storage. This means that a change of the simulation scenario (e.g. switching on/off satellites, changing simulated receiver trajectory, changing the environmental conditions) is transferred directly to the receiver and can be observed at the GNSS receiver instantaneously.
