052 - secRTK
Status: Completed
Activity Code: NAVISP-EL2-052
Start date: 30/03/2020
High-precision GNSS-based positioning based on an RTK-approach and secure GNSS signal reception based on multiantenna hardware and algorithms are both innovative technologies. There are numerous applications, which benefit from increased security and high precision of GNSS positioning. Typical examples are Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Maritime Applications or Autonomous Driving and Railway Applications.
This project combines both technologies and exploits the benefit each approach delivers. The preprocessing unit realizes different interferer suppression algorithm and therefore allows benchmarking and adaptation to various application scenarios. Additionally, the heterogeneous preprocessing unit (i.e. FPGA and CPU) delivers a large amount of processing power and data analysis in time, frequency, space and statistical domain.
The first prototype is based on a high performance FPGA and CPU based SDR platform, to realize the analog frontend. The final product will be realized on a low-cost heterogeneous FPGA platform and specialized GNSS multi-channel RF frontend chip. Using this approach receiver costs can be significantly reduced, while flexibility of the overall hardware can be maintained.
