PTB (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt)

The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Braunschweig and Berlin, is the metrology institute of the Federal Republic of Germany. The PTB comes under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWI) and has (as of 2022) about 2100 staff members, 1400 of whom have permanent positions. 800 employees have undergone scientific education. The PTB organisational structure basically has 9 scientific divisions which are subdivided into about 50 departments. Within Time and Frequency Department 4.4, the Time Standards WG and Time and Frequency Dissemination WG jointly work on the subjects development of primary time and frequency standards, realisation of the time scale UTC(PTB), time scale comparison, international cooperation and knowledge transfer, and dissemination of legal time for Germany.
