Kinéis

Kinéis

Kinéis, a French telecommunications operator, provides satellite data connectivity with global coverage, specifically adapted to the Internet of the Things: small and cheap devices that can be deployed in big numbers on any geographic area on land and oceans. Main advantages:

  • global coverage, no white spots
  • small data packets (19-27 bytes), targeting low-energy consumption
  • low energy: 100mW data transmission - long autonomy on small batteries
  • easy integration into IoT devices: small modems (2cm x 3cm x 2 mm), UART
  • easy hybridization with terrestrial networks (LPWAN, 3GPP…)
  • low cost: modems (15-30 euros), airtime per usage (1- 5 euros per month and device)
  • bidirectionality: downlink to remotely configure devices
  • native Doppler-effect geolocation (low precision)
Target markets: logistics, maritime, smart agriculture, personal safety, environment & science, infrastructure monitoring, smart metering, defence
