Kinéis
Kinéis, a French telecommunications operator, provides satellite data connectivity with global coverage, specifically adapted to the Internet of the Things: small and cheap devices that can be deployed in big numbers on any geographic area on land and oceans. Main advantages:
- global coverage, no white spots
- small data packets (19-27 bytes), targeting low-energy consumption
- low energy: 100mW data transmission - long autonomy on small batteries
- easy integration into IoT devices: small modems (2cm x 3cm x 2 mm), UART
- easy hybridization with terrestrial networks (LPWAN, 3GPP…)
- low cost: modems (15-30 euros), airtime per usage (1- 5 euros per month and device)
- bidirectionality: downlink to remotely configure devices
- native Doppler-effect geolocation (low precision)
