058 - Demonstration of GNSS position bounding using satellite uplinks

058 - Demonstration of GNSS position bounding using satellite uplinks

Status: On Going

Activity Code: NAVISP-EL1-058

Start date: 10/11/2022

Duration: 18 Months

The objective of LOCFIT (LOCalisation For Iot and Tracking) project is to develop innovative and robust infrastructure-based position-bounding solutions that exploit satellite uplink measurements of connected devices.

Targeted users are low energy and low cost devices, with long life duration without maintenance, dedicated to :

  • Land transportation: tracking of critical assets
  • Maritime: tracking of ships including fisheries
  • Multimodal tracking: tracking of containers during the whole travel including maritime and land transportation (truck, boat, train, etc.)

The project includes a system study covering a large range of system architectures, with the objective to be integrated with existing communication systems

A vulnerability analysis will be carried out all along the definition of the solution to provide resilience and security, independent from GNSS vulnerabilities.

Selected solutions will be tested with LOCFIT testbed to demonstrate the efficiency of system design, and confirm the interests for applications, using existing infrastructures and IoT solutions data for a maximum representativity.
