National Institute of Telecommunications

The National Institute of Telecommunications (NIT) – the State Research Institute is a national, Polish research and development institution for telecommunications and information technologies. Its history dates back to 1928; it has been operating under the present name since 1951. It operates under the auspices of Ministry of Digital Affairs. It has branches in Warsaw (headquarters), Gdansk and Wroclaw and currently has approx. 250 employees in total. NIT conducts development work on state telecommunication networks, system and telecommunication device normalization and standardization, as well as radiocommunication and satellite systems.

Its recent activity in the satellite systems and application areas includes various measurement campaigns of the GNSS systems and services (including Galileo PRS) in all types of propagation environments across Poland and monitoring of GNSS bands’ interference. The NIT was also involved in several ESA projects (RIDETA, JERICHO VDE, SAT-AIS-PL Phase A) and grants funded by the EUSPA (3PfD - PRS Pilot Project for Demonstration and GIMME - GNSS Interference Monitoring and Mitigation for Endusers – PRS). The Institute closely cooperates with Polish governmental entities on the satellite-related matters.
