051 - The dissemination of the Polish UTC(PL) using EGNOS satellites to provide a resilient timing backup to critical infrastructures of the country
Status: On Going
Activity Code: NAVISP-EL3-051
Start date: 16/02/2026
Duration: 25 Months
A passive technique based on the dissemination of time via a Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) EGNOS satellite:
- use of directional antennas, possible with GEO satellites
- effective countermeasure to malicious jamming and spoofing
- common GNSS receivers widely available to timing users
- a network of time laboratories synchronized through fibre optic links to UTC(PL)
- Correction the raw measurements and time transfer to UTC(PL) available in real-time
- GNSS receivers at each node of this network allows the determination in real time of the position of the geostationary satellite and of the time offset of the broadcast signal with respect to the network time
