La Sapienza University

La Sapienza, founded in 1303 by Pope Boniface VIII, is the first University in Rome and the largest University in Europe, offering courses and pursuing research, at the state-of-the-art, in many fields. “La Sapienza” boasts a long tradition of aerospace activities which started in the 1960's when, thanks to the initiative of a group of researchers led by Prof. Luigi Broglio, Italy became the third country in the world after the United States and Russia, capable of building and put a scientific satellite in orbit. The School of Aerospace Engineering is continuing along such a remarkable tradition.

The School of Aerospace Engineering of La Sapienza University, in addition to the institutional task of providing higher level education, is extremely active in applied research and industrial consultancy. Total funding from institutional and industrial contracts, as well as from competitive tenders, exceed 1M€ per year.
