HUN-REN Wigner Research Centre for Physics

The HUN-REN Wigner RCP is the largest physics research institute in Hungary, involved in areas of high energy and nuclear physics, material science, quantum technology, space physics and photonics. Focused on fundamental research, the activities cover theory, computing, small and large experimental collaborations, instrumentation and applications.
Within MANTA project the key contributions are from the Department of High Energy Physics in the Institute of Particle and Nuclear Physics. The involved research groups are the Detector Development, and the High Energy Geophysics, one focusing on detection techniques, whereas the other has expertise in cosmic muon imaging.
Based on instruments developed for particle physics and related applications, the high performance tracking detectors constructed at HUN-REN Wigner RCP allow precision directional measurements of cosmic particles to be used in PNT applications.
