Luna Systems
Founded in Ireland in 2020, Luna Systems is a deep-tech company pioneering ultra-efficient monocular machine-vision systems for real-time mobility safety. Consisting of a world-class team of PhD-level engineers (including ex Mobileye), its core USP is advanced model-optimisation techniques, distillation, compression, and hardware-aware tuning, that allow sophisticated AI machine vision perception to run on extremely lightweight, low-powered devices.
Luna’s earliest market developments focussed on shared micro-mobility, specifically safety compliance issues with shared scooters. Through this work, the company gained extensive experience in micro-mobility safety data mapping for cities such as Grenoble, Lyon, Brussels, London and Tel Aviv.
In 2022, Luna began its transition from shared to owned mobility solutions - largely due to the difficult macroeconomic environment of the shared scooter industry (city scooter bans, market consolidations etc).
In 2023, Luna developed its first cycling software through the Bosch e-Bike Systems Open Innovation programme. Since then, it has focused on product maturation and establishing a strong ecosystem relationship in the cycling market through OEM and Tier One supplier projects and PoCs.
As of 2026 Luna aims to bring to market its first AI cycling hardware products powered by Sony’s cutting edge IMX500 Intelligent Vision Sensor. Large, well-known brands, Cube and bike light manufacturer, Busch & Müller will be among the company’s first OEM customers, while Luna also plans a consumer release of “Luna Oculus”, a connected AI powered camera/smartphone app solution – currently in Beta. This device will be used to run the firmware developed under the proposed project.
