Revolutionizing Grid Management with Innovative Technologies for Renewable Energy Integration

Start date: 17/07/2023 10:00

End date: 17/07/2023 11:30

Register for the Final Presentation of the NAVISP EL2 084 Project: "GRIDCELL"

The GridCell project aimed to develop a novel and disruptive approach to the organisation of the electricity grid, with a specific focus on the UK.  It was undertaken by Powerline Technologies Ltd (acquired by Fundamentals Ltd during the course with SMP Ltd, Chronos Ltd and the University of Strathclyde (Power Networks Demonstration Centre) as subcontractors.

The approach is centred around smart power cells which are essentially self-contained microgrids containing both load and generation, normally operating connected to the grid, but capable of operating independently during a power outage.

For normal grid-connected operation the project developed a highly-decentralised energy trading system built upon a permissioned blockchain system, which utilises smart contract technology to facilitate open, transparent trading in the market for energy and power flexibility services.

The presentation on 17th July 2023 will cover the following:

  • Introduction to the GridCell project by ESA
  • Description of the Architecture & Trading System by PTL
  • Description of Control & Optimisation by SMP
  • Description of the Timing system by Chronos
  • Outcomes of the Final Integration by PTL and SMP
  • Conclusions, commercial exploitation and next steps by PTL

Please check the Agenda and register for the event!
