ON 17/02/2022 NAVISP SHOWS A WAY TO HELP PEOPLE IN DISTRESS

Start date: 17/02/2022 14:30

End date: 17/02/2022 16:00

PLEASE REGISTER FOR THE FINAL PRESENTATION WEBINAR EL2-046.  The original intention for the NAVISP Element 2 Project EL2-046 “Help me In Distress” was to produce a system to help manage emergency situations and provide people in need of help with means to inform someone. This led to the idea of building a platform to connect volunteers directly to the people in need via requests.

The final product was "Together!", a mobile app that provides an option to communicate between people described as a Person in Distress (PID), who need a specific type of help, and volunteers, called Assistance on the Ground (AOG), who want to provide help. This communication depends on the categories of these calls for help, e.g. AOG with medical experience will choose to help PID with health issues. Those in need create requests using categories tailored in advance and provide the most important information. Their current localization is automatically attached in the process of creating a call for help. Volunteers receive notifications about new requests close to them. After obtaining detailed information they can declare through the application that they will provide help.
