Discover on 03/03/22 Evil Waveform effects and how to address them in autonomous driving! Register to the Final Presentation of NAVISP EL2-062 "GNSS Signal Quality Monitoring solution for New Integrity Applications (MONINT)"
Start date: 03/03/2022 10:30
End date: 03/03/2022 12:00
With the advent of autonomous driving the failure requirements for GNSS receivers are more stringent, leading to focus on impairments that could lead to errors on the position estimation. One impairment that needs study and characterization is the Evil Waveform (EWF) effect. The objective of the EL2-062 MONINT NAVISP project was to provide an overview on how the receivers react to the EWF impairment and in which conditions they are able to detect it.
Although the target is autonomous driving, due to the strong background of similar analysis in monitoring stations for aeronautical domain, the static monitoring station case was also considered in this work. Therefore, the developed MONINT platform has the ability to assess the problem in two steps, from the static perspective towards the autonomous driving case which, considering its kinematic nature, will predictably impose its own challenges.
The solution was developed by GMV [PT], the Prime and overall responsible for EWF injection, signal processing and SW platform, and IT [PT], responsible for the Signal Quality Monitoring (SQM) definition and characterization.
The MONINT platform has been developed and tested to satisfy different Use Cases and scenarios, in order to assess the capabilities, performances and challenges of the SQM metrics and the detection strategies.
The project was carried out in the frame of NAVISP Element 2, which is devoted to supporting competitiveness of European industries.
