Register for the Final Presentation of the NAVISP EL2 053 Project: “Remote Snapshot Processing On Server (ReSPOnSe)”

Conventional tracking applications make use of real-time GNSS receivers, where the processing and positioning is carried out onboard the device. This comes at high-power costs due to the computational effort required on the device. Alternatively, snapshot-based positioning techniques can be employed. Snapshots are short recordings of the radio-frequency spectrum, potentially shorter than 100 milliseconds. The snapshots contain the navigation signals in raw binary form, which can later be processed with a snapshot processing application. The snapshots can then be forwarded to a cloud server, where the signals are processed and a position is determined.

CGI Nederland B.V. has developed a snapshot processing application called “Remote Snapshot Processing On Server” (ReSPOnSe). With support of ESA’s NAVISP program, various enhancing algorithms are implemented along with opportunities to deploy snapshot recorders with clients in the Netherlands. The objectives of the activity are focused on improving the performance of ReSPOnSe in terms of accuracy, precision and robustness by means of adding a set of algorithms to the existing version.

The project was carried out in the frame of NAVISP Element 2, which is devoted to supporting competitiveness of European industries.
