Successful development of product portfolio of small form factor mobile GNSS IoT devices: Final Presentation of NAVISP Project EL2-093 EDGE UNIVERSE now available

On Friday, January 28, 2022, Taoglas presented the results of the NAVISP project “EDGE Universe”. About 30 people from industry and research followed the interesting presentation and the subsequent interactive Q&A session.

Taoglas is an Irish company that offers advanced components and technologies in order to enable digital transformations. Taoglas is focused on high-performance antennas and RF design with advanced positioning, imaging, audio and artificial intelligence technologies, with a particular strategic focus on IoT and 5G technologies. In total, the company holds 90 approved and 117 pending patents, indicating the company's high innovative strength.

Within the scope of NAVISP Element 2, which aims to maintain and improve the capabilities and competitiveness of the participating States' industry in the global market for satellite navigation and, more broadly, PNT technologies and services, Taoglas main objective was to exploit the opportunities of introducing GNSS in commercial products by building a product portfolio of mobile GNSS IoT devices. 
In particular, the project focused on the development of four different products to address three different customer segments (Asset Tracking, Fleet Management and Shared Micro-Mobility). The overarching goal in developing the products was competitive pricing, flexible and easy integration in different user environments, and low power requirements. The first product is called EDGE Connect and has a switchable antenna. This product is designed to enable better asset tracking. The second and third products, called EDGE RUGGED and EDGE Industrial, are designed to enable better fleet management, including heavy transport vehicles and equipment. The fourth product, EDGE Micro enables micro mobility sharing. To achieve these goals and enable successful product development, Taoglas formed a hardware and software development team that enabled everything from prototype development to pilot production. This included extensive FR testing, validation and verification. 

With the support of NAVISP, Taoglas has succeeded in developing 4 different products, all of which have reached the production validation stage and are ready for commercialization.
