065 - VAGAD: A Novel Solution to Validate GNSS Receiver for Autonomous Driving at Level 3 and 4
Status: Completed
Activity Code: NAVISP-EL2-065
Start date: 05/06/2020
The VaGAD project is aiming at developing a new product for calibration and for validation of GNSS receivers in the automotive industry for levels 3/4 of automation and under real world conditions. The system will use airborne high-resolution image data which are precisely georeferenced with Ground Control Points derived from satellite Radar measurements. This system will provide a reference trajectory for automotive vehicles in GNSS critical areas, e.g., GNSS-denied environments. The calibration and validation process will be done by using imaging from a helicopter. The optical images will be geo-referenced using GCPs which are automatically derived from RADAR imageries. The development is focused on providing high-precision reference trajectories, with high integrity, facilitating the validation of safety-critical positioning systems as for autonomous driving.
