051 - New Concept for Evolutive Mitigation of RFI to GNSS
Status: Completed
Activity Code: NAVISP-EL1-051
Start date: 01/01/2021
Intentional and unintentional interference are recognized as major threats to users of GNSS-based
positioning. Existing detection and mitigation methods lack the adjustability to deal with the ever-
increasing complexity in GNSS interference attacks. Our ANTIFERENCE system will employ artificial
intelligence to detect both known and never-before-observed interferences. It operates the way
antivirus software works, by detecting threats based on the “fingerprints” of incoming signals. These
fingerprints are stored in a database, together with the appropriate countermeasures. The database
can be shared among different receivers to further improve effectiveness.
